Russians’ individual January inflation tops official figure 5 times
MOSCOW, Feb 22 (PRIME) -- Russians’ individual inflation rose to 1.6% in January, compared with 0.3% calculated by the Federal State Statistics Service, as seen by PRIME in research company Romir’s report on Thursday.
“In January, individual inflation rose 1.6% from December… that means that the deflator topped the official inflation more than fivefold,” the report read.
Experts said that the rise was linked with a usual price revision at the beginning of a year and a 4-15% growth in prices for fruit and vegetables, a 5.8% increase in prices for alcoholic drinks, a 5.9% rise in cigarettes prices, and a 3.5% drugs inflation against December.
Romir said that a jump in prices in traditional for January, but will persist in February.
Romir polls 30,000 Russians, 11,000 households in 180 cities with population over 10,000 people for their consumer habits for the research. The polled Russians scan barcodes of all goods they bring home. The data go to the database of the scanning panel in an online regime.
